African Americans have been in the United States of America (U.S.A) for over four hundred years. Slavery has been abolished for over 125 years. The United States has grown over the last 100 years to become the wealthiest and greatest country in the world. While African Americans were fortunate enough to have been in the United States before this explosion of economic growth, power, and prosperity, the African American community has not significantly participated in or benefited from this tremendous wealth-creating economic engine, which has created and passed down great opportunities to fellow White Americans for hundreds of years.
